Just another week day night in December. I ran in to Masuda-san at TatsumiPA. Masuda-san who gave huge impact to Honda Fanatic with his previous FIT(GE) switched car to BMW MINI.

It got many maniac modification can’t see if you are not paying attention. It might be different if the car was Black or White, but Masuda-san says the ordinary green color is one of the important factor in this car.

It’s not a Stance, or The Check Shop wet racing style. MINI is one of the kind. He also says he’s not expecting the same attention he got with FIT. However, his struggle will be continues….

ごくごく普通な12月の平日の夜。 寒空の辰巳で遭遇。

嘗てFit(GE)で世界中のHonda Fanaticを驚愕させたMasuda-san. その後BMW MINIに乗り換え、表面上は伝わりにくい数々のモディファイを加え、一定の評価は得られたものの良くも悪くもスタンダードなMiniでは突出した評価は得ることが出来ず。

浅い目で見てしまえば、ボディー色が白なり黒であれば評価が違ってきているはずだが、話しを聞けば地味なMiniの定番カラーもMasuda-sanの拘りの一つという事だ。

世の中も決してFitで見せたあの衝撃的なカッコよさをMiniに求めているわけではないのだが、Musuda-sanの苦悩は続く。 Stanceでもなく、The Check Shop的なお色気レーシングでもない。 ちょっとニッチで埋没しがちなMiniの正統派カスタマイズは奥が深い。

日米共にあまり手を付けられていないあのクルマをMasuda-sanに是非手掛けてもらいたいけれど、もう少しMiniとの格闘は続くのかな。
