[Road To Street Car Nationals // Chapter.02] Second Car Nationals – Lowbrain Yassan’s 2002 Toyota Tacoma

So there is a background story why I post my Element’s Street Car Nationals prep.

“Cool second cars owned by local drift heroes” Not only show cars but also cool daily can go on Street car nationals(SCN). Actually, you can see more stories, life styles, and cultures from daily cars. That’s what SCN about! so why don’t we go on SCN with second cars and have a block party? This year’s SCN is “Second car nationals for us.

First of many is going to be Yassan’s Toyota Tacoma. Yassan is a founder and Chairman of Lowbrain. His light gray island taste Tacoma is very opposite from his  Super aggressive red Levin. It reminds me of his previous second car Honda Domani(EL in north america) face civic AKA Dovic color.

*Dovic also will be at SCN with new owner.

The reason why Takuya pic this Tacoma is because of the movie “back to the future”’s Black Toyota pickup. It has been his favorite truck since he was a child. However, it’s hard to find one which in a good condition he can drive it everyday since they are getting old.  So he picked a newer model of it.

At first he was looking for Black Zenki 5speed 2wd. But ended up getting not black or 2wd or even 5Speed Tacoma. He’s been driving it for 4 years now.

When he got the car he was going to make it prerunner style. But he chanced it to Island style. He put super wide American eagle instead of Method race wheels. Bed has been changed 3 times. First, it had tonneau cover, and then bed rack, and now it’s shell cover.

For SCN2018, he made muffler comes from the side. Of cause its not only a daily, when he brings it to off road, he drives it aggressive as he drifts on track with his Levin. So if you come to SCN2018 stop by and see his cool daily car.

Street Car Nationalsへのエレメント参加企画をポストした背景には、水面下でこのような流れがありました。

“ドリ車に乗っている、ローカルヒーロー達のCoolなセカンドカー”

バッキバキにキメたカスタムカーではなく、ゆるーく普段の足として乗っているクルマだって充分なポテンシャルがある。クルマだけでなく、そのノリという名のカルチャーを受け入れてくれるのはStreet Car Nationalsだ。

寧ろそれが本当の”国民車の祭典=Street Car Nationals”なのではないか？

“そうだ！Block Partyのようなスタイルで、みんなセカンドカーでエントリーしてみようぜ！”

つまり、今年のStreet Car Nationalsは我々にとっては”Second Car Nationals=セカカー”と題したライフスタイルの提案なのです。

まず1台目は、Lowbrainの創設者でもあり会長として個性派揃いのメンバーを束ねるYassan。そのYassanの1号機である濃厚な赤のレビンとは対照的な爽やかなグレーにオールペンされたTacoma。嘗てYassanが製作した伝説のHonda Domani顔のCivic”Dovic”を彷彿とさせるアイランド感。

※因みにこの”Dovic”ですが先週開催されたWekfestの駐車場にて偶然遭遇。

YassanがTacomaを購入するきっかけとなったのは、映画”Back to the Future”に登場した、黒いブリハイ(ブリスターハイラックス)の影響です。

Yassanは子供の頃からあのシーンが大のお気に入りで、理想とする個体を探してみましたが年式的に毎日気苦労せずに乗れる物ではありませんでした。

そこで、日常的にもストレスを抱えずに、尚且つその理想に限りなく近い存在は初期型のTacomaでした。

黒、マニュアル、2駆という条件でショップに探してもらうも、最終的に購入した個体は初期型でも黒でもマニュアルでも2駆でも無いタコマ。そんな紆余曲折を経ての出会いではあるが4年以上もこのTacomaを所有しています。

購入当初はプリランナースタイルを目指してMethodを履いていましたが、方向性が”アイランドスタイル”に定まり、極太でレトロなAmerican Eagleをチョイス。

ピックアップならではの荷台遊びは一通りこなし、トノカバー、ヤグラ、そして現状はシェルを装備。更にSCN2018に併せてマフラーをサイド出しに変更。

走破性は申し分なくローレンジを選択すればAveShin-sanのジムニーすら追い回せる。

流行りのプレランナースタイルではない、何処か懐かしくも新しい、Lowbrainの会長らしいヨンクライフを、Street Car Nationalsの会場でご覧あれ。
