Phase 3→2018 : Finishing up the lest of the things I wanted to do for years.
I purchased this honda element in 2005. Put All Terrain tires right after I got the car.
In 2008 It got matte orange paint. At the moment, matte paint want popular as it is now. Moon Auto Seino-san(Known as an expert painter in National Geographic channel) painted the car. Little fan fact the Setagaya base Nissan March got paint at the same time when Element was in his shop.
It’s been 10 years since it got painted this color but to be honest. Matte paint cost lots of maintenance and repaint and patient(mentally and financealy) In this 10 years there was lots of cars which use matte orange paint as their image color such as Subaru XV and Suzuki Hustler(yes there is a car named Hustler in Japan lol) N-BOX+Element concept(2014) I was like “I started the trend!!” in my mind.
After that it got after marked wheels and Mud Terrain tires. Then Rocket Bunny S13 duck tail wing installed by Moon auto Seino-san.
At the last, in 2018. People I met through Tokyonur helped finishing up lest of the things I wanted to do. Suspension one off modify and install by Freee’s auto&customs.
Front 3 inches and Rear 2 inches leveling kit I got from Amazon USA for $300 didn’t make me happy. The Condition of rear upper arms are too sketchy to install. But because of that I could meet a grate people. Megan Racing Japan gave me grate tech support that I could get the right arms for the car. ELEMENT isn’t in their line up but CRV arms fits.
Also, I changed stock suspension to D2 coil over. At first I wanted the coil over for adjusting the height which got too high from leveling kit, but after 13years, the stock suspension wasn’t really working well anymore so it was good for performance too. There are only 2 companies make Honda Element coil over D2 Racing and BC Racing.
I haven’t used BC Racing so I don’t know the difference but I wouldn’t recommend D2 Racing if you were looking for one. In addition, the lift up kit is made for stock suspension, it needs modify to mount on coil over. Which done by Freee’s auto & customs Mitamura-san(Den Style).
It was going to be done in 3 hours, but since bolts on rear suspension arms were stiked, they had to cut and put new bolts.
The suspension doesn’t have hard push from the ground at all, it’s very mild I would say. However, since the rear shocks are very short that it touches bump rubber very easy that I had to adjust them. Front 12KG and Rear 14KG spring late are too soft compared to its weight. Probably I should have just put 1.5 inches leveling kit with stock suspension.
This suspension set up is just a one step of my ideal off-road project. There is one more last step to complete the car.
I will come back soon for the post. However, This Element wasn’t meant to be a show car so I have never gone to put this car to any car show.
But since Mooneyes Street Car Nationals has such a nice atmosphere that made me want to go out. If you are going to be there see you there!
