In one week I feel like I jumped to other side of the edge of car culture. I was surrounded by NASHIYAMASTREET(yamanashistreet)flavor drift missiles this weekend. Last week I was surrounded by ultimate rich hyper cars at GUMBALL. It’s totally different world but also, it s a grate part of car culture.
Sports Land Yamanashi(SLY) it self locates in high attitude, but still this basin area’s hot weather isn’t easy for not only entrants but for spectators. Also, high way around this area gets really bad traffic jam. However in 2017, 4AG club got back to Slysummit, somehow all the other teams and drivers started to sign up the event. This year they got support by KOYORAD USA and the event entry got full before it released. It became one of the hottest track day in Kanto area.
■What happened to Freee’s
In the first year TBP 秋の取り消し予定者講習会(2015) They had Yuyu’s GS, DEN-Style S13, Harai-chan’s 35 Laurel, and Ryohei-san’s Laurel. But in 2018, There is only Ryohei-san’s Leven. Since Freee’s Ishi-chan Onevia crashed in 2017, Many member left from drifting scene. Even Lowbrain founder Yasuda-san says「Isn’t Ryohei a secret member of Lowbrain??」
Anyways, “I AM Legend” Freee’s Ryohei, Lowbrain, and TBP-ojisan stopped by legendary shop Budo-no-ki as they do every year. Not a one thing hasn’t changed since 90’s like I.C.B.M sticker on the counter. I wonder how it looked for newer gen’s drift guy Lowbrain JJ’s eyes.
After we bough the famous Budo-no-ki stickers, we head out to the cottage.
Violence night started by Lowbrain Genki’s mysterious cocktail. Let’t not shere the story in here since it’s not a pretty story as you seen some videos from previous year.
5AM in the morning everyone was up getting ready to go to SLY. No one got hanged over this year. Good improvement.
7AM at the track, gate was opened for entrants. Since many drivers got used to with the track(this track has very restricted space so usually it take a time to unloading cars from trucks and park them) most drivers finished setting their pits way earlier than last year.
Entrants spent time hanging out in the pit area until driver briefing, Okata-san’s Super heavy legamaster was unveiled and made people laugh.
