[Road To Street Car Nationals // Chapter.08] Honda Of America Element+Tokonur Concept – Car Body Care // Moon Auto

A week before Street Car nationals, I brought my element to Moon auto seino-san.

I haven’t used any chemical product on ABS parts for 13years but they are still in a ok condition. So I only changed lower rear bumper and front grill. Other than that, I only changed door knobs and door mirror mount cover. I was going to repaint hood and front fenders but I postponed them for next time. Instead of those I asked them to paint a small panel on bottoms of A pillar. Lots of people think it’s a stock color, but it’s not. It’s custom matte paint. And It was very hard to keep them clean for past 10 years. I already had enough of it so maybe it’s time for me to try another color… Differently not another matte color.lol

So as a photographer, I kept it as clean enough to be on photos as possible. But I’m curious what would people think when they see in in person. Guess I’ll find out at SCN.

Element+Tokonur Concept Final Edition will be complete when the last parts didn’t make it in time so once it’s finished, I might go on another event as “Element+Tokonur Concept Ultra”

Street Car Nationalsに向けた最後の週に日頃傷んだエクステイリアのボディーケアの作業をお願いする為にMoon AutoのSeino-sanの元へ。

樹脂の光沢を復活させるトリートメント剤等は13年間1度も使用していない割には、”意外とキレイ”といった状態だ。樹脂パーツの交換は最も痛みが激しいリヤロアーバンパーとフロントグリルの薄いグレーのパーツを2点。

その他の箇所では、ドアノブとサイドミラーの付け根、バンパートリムの艶出し。

また、晴天時にのみ色褪せしている事を判別可能なボンネットとそれに続く左右のエリアを塗りなおす事を検討したが、今回はその作業を行いませんでした。塗装箇所を必要最小限に留め、紫外線で焼けやすい右Aピラー付け根のボディー色のパーツのみ艶消しオレンジで再塗装。

「ありそうでなさそう」な現状のカラーリングを維持してきましたが、マット塗装を10年維持する事は物凄く大変な事です。特に今の気分では別の色を検討しても良いタイミング。数年以内に別の色に全塗装するならば、今ここで艶消しオレンジの保全をするのは得策ではないという判断です。もう艶消し塗装は充分に楽しんだので、次は普通に艶のある色にしようかな（笑）

っという訳で、フォトグラファー目線で、写真で、撮る、見る、だけでは気づかない箇所は現状維持を貫き、目に余る箇所のみリフレッシュ作業を行いました。直で見るヒトによっては劣化を感じ取れる状態かもしれませんが、意外とキレイ、意外とボロイ、どちらの反応があるか、それはそれで楽しみです。

Element+Tokonur Concept Final Editionは、アメリカからの荷物の未着による影響で未完成のままエントリーする事になってしまいましたが、様々な協力者の助けをお借りして輸入を再開しておりますのでまた何処かのイベントに間に合えば”Element+Tokonur Concept Ultra”としてエントリーしてみたいなと思っています。
