Freee’s Auto & Customs Den-chan is known for lowed blue C10. He helped my Element project a lot this time actually. His daily use 2nd car is Daihatsu Esse. Its hard to believe it’s already 10 years old, but Den-chan is still in love with its design. It’s like chocolate candy look cute little car with classic looking interior which was a bit high end model in Daihatsu when it came out because if it’s design.
Den-chan has been changed his daily car a lot in past few years. He had Porsche Boxter for a
year, and then had Suzuki Jimny for half a year. Just after he sold Jimny, he found this Daihatsu Esse. It runs 17Km per a 1L of gas. Since he’s from Freee’s Auto&Customs, He can’t drive is stock even it was just a daily car. He installed Air bag, and to make it touch the floor he had to do lots of welding. Mooneyes side mirror, painted front/rear side window visor, and wheels.
There was a cool episode. 2weeks before the event his air back bloke down. But, D2 Ideal overhauled the air bag and sent him back in a week. Den-chan was surprised how they were quick.
At the end, this is the last post before SCN. This time we will have Takoma and Sienna from Lowbrainl. Hilux(4runner) and Esse from Freee’s, and Element fron Tokyonur. The Second Car Nationals crew. Come see our lunch time (13:00) I guarantee you will laugh.
Freee’s Auto & CustomsのDen-chanと言えばChevrolet C10ですよね。Den-chanは今回のSCNに向けてTokyonurのElementのモディファイにも大いに貢献してくれました。
そのDen-chanの現在のデイリユースを担うセカンドカーはダイハツエッセ。
既に10年落ちという事が信じられないエッセですが、Den-chanはエッセが新車で発売されていた時に一目惚れをしていたようです。
まるでチロルチョコのような「ユルカワイイ」デザインと、クラシックカーを彷彿とさせる鉄板むき出しのチープな内装は、軽自動車ならでは遊び心が満載でした。発売当初はデザインに拘った軽自動車という事もありライバル車両よりも価格は高めでした。
そんなDen-chanといえば乗り換えサイクルが早いイメージがありますよね。約1年という期間だったボクスターの次に購入したジムニーは半年程度で売却。そのジムニーを売却した直後に、たまたま欲しかった色のエッセが手ごろな価格で見つかり購入に至りました。
リッター17kmという高燃費はセカンドカーの条件としてはパーフェクト。勿論Freee’s Auto & Customsの代表としてノーマルで乗るわけはありません。
足回りは当然エアサスに交換。さらにそこから「着地」を実現する為に数々の溶接加工を必要とするワンオフパーツを自ら製作。エクステリアは、Mooneyes製のサイドミラーをチョイスしブラックにペイント。ホイール、ドアバイザー、ドアノブをキャンディーブラウンにペイント。
こぼれ話としては、SCNの1週間前にエアサスのバッグからエア漏れが発生し、応急処置をしても治らず急遽日本の代理店であるD2 IDEALに問い合わせたところ、僅か数日でリペアした状態で届いたというアフターケアの良さに、Den-chan自身も感激。イベントに間に合いそうで良かったね。
さて、このStreet Car Nationalsのシリーズにおける車両紹介は今回で最後。
Lowbrainからはタコマとシエナ。Freee’sからはサーフ(4 Runner)とエッセ、そしてTokyonurのエレメントという異色な並びのSeacond Car Nationalsをお楽しみに！
